Marco Rubio's New Video Focuses on National Debt Payoff
Former House Speaker Marco Rubio, the overwhelming favorite to be the Republican candidate in the U.S. Senate election, released the second in a continuing series of web videos, promoting ideas on how to reduce the size and cost of the federal government. Rubio is calling for including an option in IRS forms, allowing taxpayers to designate 10 percent of their tax payments to go to reducing the national debt.
The second idea that we had is allowing and empowering individual, everyday Americans and businesses to specifically go after the debt themselves through their own tax returns, said Rubio. What does that mean? Its pretty simple. You put a check-off box at the top of everyones tax returns. If you check that box off, you can designate that up to 10 percent of your tax dollars the money youre paying that year in taxes go directly to debt retirement.
