Marco Rubio: Suspend Aid to Palestinian Government
From his perch on the U.S. Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., weighed in on Tuesday on the murder of three Israeli teens and called for President Barack Obama to suspend aid to the Palestinian government.
My familys thoughts and prayers are with the people of Israel and especially the families of Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaar and Eyal Yifrach during this difficult time, Rubio said. The brutal killing of three innocent teenagers in Israel should serve as a reminder of what Hamas truly represents. This is more evidence that Hamas should not be allowed to participate in any Palestinian government or elections unless they renounce terrorism and accept Israels right to exist.
Until then, I hope the administration will listen to the voices in Congress and in the Israeli government calling for a suspension of assistance to the power-sharing Palestinian government, Rubio added. That is the least we can do to honor the lives of Naftali, Gilad and Eyal.
