Marco Rubio Rips Idea of Taxing Wages Lost from Oil Spill

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio commented Friday afternoon on the possibility that lost wage claims from the oil spill could be taxed.

The Gulf Oil Spill Relief Fund is designed to help people whose livelihoods have been devastated by this tragedy, said Rubio. This is not an opportunity for the IRS to collect more taxes. Its unacceptable that our government is more eager to tax the people of the Gulf Coast than it is to marshal our countrys great resources to help them. Just because the federal government is starved for tax dollars to pay for the national debt that has exploded on this administrations watch, doesnt mean the IRS should be pinching pennies from oil-spill victims who wish they didnt have to accept this money in the first place. The federal government should act immediately so that Floridians and the people of the Gulf Coast receive a full gross relief check, and BP should act to cover any tax liabilities.
