Marco Rubio Praises Senate Republicans' Ideas to Cut Spending

Incoming U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio weighed in on Tuesday night after his first meeting of theRepublican Senate Conference. He was pleased with the meeting -- and the cost-saving ideas that came out of it.

Im proud to have joined my colleagues in sending a strong message that Senate Republicans will be a clear policy alternative to the direction that Washingtons big-spending politicians have been taking our country, said Rubio. These are important steps in what will be a long, hard-fought process to shake up the culture of wasteful spending in Washington and get serious about tackling a $13.5 trillion debt that is a barrier to creating jobs and a threat to national security.

Over the past two years, I have met thousands of Floridians who understand the consequences our federal debt has on short-term job creation, but also the lasting impact it will have on future generations of Americans who will spend their lives working to pay for this recklessness, added Rubio. Ive made a commitment to Floridians to tackle this debt problem and am proud to officially support these ideas that we campaigned on as a starting point.
