Marco Rubio Offers Joe Biden Advice for Inspecting Oil Spill
With Vice President Joe Biden in Florida on Tuesday to inspect the damage caused by the oil spill in the Gulf, former House Speaker Marco Rubio, the leading Republican candidate running for the U.S. Senate, offered him some advice -- and harsh words for the Obama administration.
"As Vice President Biden visits Florida's Panhandle today, I urge him to really listen to Floridians whose livelihoods and way of life are being destroyed by this oil spill, said Rubio. If the vice president listens, he will hear from local elected officials in Northwest Florida who know what their job is but can't do it because either BP and government bureaucracy are getting in the way or the resources they need aren't getting there.
"When this day is over, I hope the vice president will return to Washington with a message that those on the ground in Florida are frustrated by the inaction, indecision and inability of the federal government to help deliver more boom, skimmers and resources to the affected communities, continued Rubio. They simply want Washington's help in fixing the spill, preventing future disasters like this and developing an economic recovery plan to get back on track.
"For the sake of Florida's recovery and future, the federal response must get up to speed," concluded Rubio, taking a shot at independent rival Gov. Charlie Crists comments on the way the Obama administration handled the spill.
