Marco Rubio at Odds With GOP House Over Tax-Cut Vote

Florida GOP congressmen flailed the Democratic-led Senate on Tuesday for passing a two-month extension of payroll tax cuts. But no one mentioned that one of their own was among the "aye" votes.

Sen. Marco Rubio was among a majority of Senate Republicans who voted for the two-month amendment that undercut the House's one-year authorization.

Rubio could not be reached for comment Tuesday, but the freshman lawmaker told NBC News the night before the Senate vote: "Look Im always in favor of longer-term permanent solutions, but this is as far we could get on their side."

The Senate amendment passed with 89 votes. Only 10 senators -- among the most conservative and most liberal in the chamber -- voted against it: Bob Corker, R-Tenn.; Jim DeMint, R-S.C.; Ron Johnson, R-Wis.; Mark Kirk, R-Ill.; Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.; Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.; Jerry Moran, R-Kan.; Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.; Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.; and Richard Shelby, R-Ala.
