Marco Rubio Gets Top Votes for Potential Vice President Spot
More buzz about Florida's junior senator: Marco Rubio got the most mentions as a possible vice presidential candidate, according to a Farleigh Dickinson University poll of Republicans nationally. (For a summary and breakdown, see here.)
Asked, "no matter who is the Republican nominee for president," whom Republicans and independent voters would like to see in the No. 2 spot, Rubio drew the most votes, followed in the top five by former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich.
Given that company, Rubio is a logical choice for No. 2. As one of the finalists for the GOP nomination himself, Santorum might not be comfortable as a wingman.
Palin's probably too busy with her projects not directly involved in the political world, and Gingrich is just not understudy material.
As to Christie? Let's face it. Would you want a running mate who would seriously consider beating you up?
