Marco Rubio, Florida GOP Leaders Back Tom Rooney
U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney should not face much of a challenge for the Republican nomination, though Joe Arnold --a teacher who has served on the Okeechobee County School Board --is taking him on in the primary. Rooney unveiled the support of some of the leading Republicans in the state on Wednesday -- U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, U.S. Rep. Allen West and state Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam.
Youd be hard-pressed to find three more hard-working, dedicated public servants in Florida than Adam Putnam, Marco Rubio and Allen West, said Rooney in a statement on Wednesday. They share my commitment to reducing our national debt, promoting free-market economic growth and job creation, reducing regulations on farmers and small businesses, and maintaining a strong national defense. These three men have served our state and our country very well, and Im honored to have their support.
Congressman Rooney is a strong conservative who is committed to the values of smaller government, greater individual freedom and liberty, and a stronger national defense, Rubio said. Tom has a proven record of cutting spending to get our deficit under control and promoting economic prosperity through free-market principles. Im proud to endorse Tom Rooney for re-election.
