Marco Rubio: 9/11 Conspirators Should Face Military Tribunals, Not Civilian Courts
Florida Republican U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio joined eight other Republicans in the Senate introducing a measure that would try the accused 9/11 conspirators in military tribunals instead of in civilian courts.
As we approach the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, it is vital that Congress send a clear message that the 9/11 conspirators should be immediately tried in military courts and not afforded the same rights as an American citizen in a civilian courtroom, said Rubio. For too long, our government has stood idle while the 9/11 conspirators, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, sit in Guantanamo Bay. For the families who lost loved ones almost 10 years ago, and for all Americans, it is time that the terrorists involved in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, face justice.
