A Massachusetts man who sent a threatening emailto a state representative leading last sessions immigration reform effort will spend a year in jail.

Manuel Pintado, whose email to Rep. William Snyder, R-Stuart, was sent an hour after a gunman in Arizona killed six and wounded 13, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, received the sentence on Monday for violating his probation, according to TCPalm.com.

Pintado, 48, received probation in May for sending the threatening email from his laptop while at a Starbucks in Northampton, Mass.

Terms of Pintados probation required him to stay out of Florida, to have no contact with Snyder or his staff, and not to be arrested.

In July, Pintado, a U.S. Navy veteran and Ecuador native, was arrested for allegedly threatening a woman in a parking lot in Hadley, Mass., according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office.

Snyder, a former lawenforcement officer who is running for Martin County sheriff in 2012, admitted he beefed up security at his office after receiving the message on his legislative email. His bill eventually died without action by the House.
