Looks Like Bud Chiles is Bowing Out

Numerous sources are reporting that independent gubernatorial candidate Bud Chiles is planning to pull the plug on his campaign with an announcement expected on Thursday. Chiles, the son of Florida political legend Lawton Chiles, lagged in the polls behind Democratic nominee and state CFO Alex Sink and Republican candidate Rick Scott. However, he was pulling inteenpercentages in most polls.

At this point its not clear whether independent Bud Chiles will be a force in November, said Peter Brown, the assistant director of Quinnipiac Universitys polling, earlier in the month when his organization released a poll showing Chiles taking 12 percent. His numbers have ticked down since his announcement, but he is getting one in eight voters and that is nothing to sneeze at.
