Looking to Nip Bud in the ... well Bud, Alex Sink Brings Out James Carville

State CFO Alex Sinks gubernatorial candidate just released a letter from legendary Democratic political strategist James Carville.

I'm from Louisiana, wrote Carville. And I've seen firsthand the damage this oil spill has caused, and how unacceptable BP's response has been. As oil hovered just miles away and tar balls started washing up on Pensacola beaches last week, BP's CEO wasn't there to help. Do you know who was? Alex Sink.

Carville played up the differences between Sink and the Republicans in the race. Alex called for the government to take over from BP weeks ago because she knew what a mess this would be, wrote Carville. But while Alex has been leading the charge against BP, her Republican opponents either seem to think it's OK to allow more oil drilling in the Gulf, or have yet to strongly criticize BP's response. That's not leadership.

With independent Bud Chiles, son of Florida Democratic icon Lawton Chiles, in the race, look for Sink to firm up the Democratic base with more messages from leading Democrats from the state and nation -- like James Carville.
