Lois Frankel Named as DCCC 'Red to Blue' Vice Chair
Freshman U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel, D-Fla., took a step up the Democratic ladder on Thursday when U.S. Rep. Steve Israel, D-N.Y., named her as a vice chairwoman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committees (DCCC) Red to Blue program as they look to defeat Republican members of Congress. Israel, who is the chairman of the DCCC, also named U.S. Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Md., as chairwoman of the Red to Blue program for the second election cycle in a row, while U.S. Rep. Denny Heck, D-Wash., was named a vice chairman.
The DCCCs aggressive leadership team is the best there is, and Im thrilled to announce that Rep. Edwards will continue her outstanding leadership as Red to Blue chair, and that she will be supported by Reps. Lois Frankel and Denny Heck as vice chairs, said Israel on Thursday. With their help, we have recruited a strong group of candidates who will focus on economic growth and stand on the side of middle class families. These candidates have already built aggressive campaign operations and proved they have a path to victory, and Reps. Edwards, Frankel and Heck will work with them through November to ensure they have the resources and tools they need to win.
Frankel had co-chaired the DCCCs WomenLEAD program before obtaining her new assignment.
