Lois Frankel Comes Out Against Gun Violence in U.S.
U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel, D-Fla., is joining the chorus of her fellow liberal Congress members and gun safety advocates calling for an end to gun violence in the United States.
Frankel specifically came out against guns and domestic violence in a series of tweets posted Wednesday. The tweets are timed in conjunction with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which continues through the end of the month.
"Guns & domestic violence are a deadly mix. We must #StopGunViolence against women this #DVAM2015," she tweeted.
In an email sent to supporters Wednesday evening, Barack Obama's Organizing for Action staff commended Frankel for her commitment to end gun violence.
"It's time for Congress to work toward reform -- and it's up to OFA supporters to hold them accountable," wrote OFA digital strategist Jon Ozaksut. "Fortunately, there are members of Congress that have stepped up and announced their support for reform, and your representative, Lois Frankel, is one of them."
Frankel held a press conference with U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Fla., at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth Thursday morning to speak against gun violence.
