Liz Cheney Down Big to Mike Enzi in New Poll
Another poll finds Liz Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, way behind as she looks to defeat U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., in the Republican primaries in 2014.
Public Policy Polling (PPP), a Democratic firm, found Enzi taking 54 percent in the Republican primary while Cheney gets the backing of 26 percent. These numbers are similar to a Harper poll released on Friday which found Enzi taking 55 percent, more than enough to rout Cheney who followed with 21 percent. Only 36 percent of Wyoming Republicans -- and 31 percent of all voters there -- consider Cheney to be from the Cowboy State and 50 percent of all voters think she should run for the Senate in Virginia where she has spent years.
Liz Cheneys Senate prospects dont look very good, said Dean Debnam, the president of PPP. Wyoming voters see her as an outsider, and on top of that Mike Enzi is very popular in the state.
The poll of 1,203 registered voters was taken from July 19-21 and had a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percent. This included a sample of 780 Republican primary voters with a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent.
