Lincoln Diaz-Balart, Mike Rogers Back Rick Kozell in CD 18
Attorney and Republican leader Rick Kozell is running in the crowded primary to replace U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., in Congress and, on Wednesday, announced the support of several prominent Republicans.
Kozell unveiled a host of endorsements including former U.S. Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Ala., former Amb. Eric Javits and former Tequesta Vice Mayor Calvin Turnquest who ran for the Republican nomination against Murphy last year.
“Rick’s small business entrepreneurial background combined with his experience reigning in Washington’s federal regulatory system will be indispensable in the halls of Congress,” Javits said on Wednesday. “I know Rick has deeply-held conservative convictions, exceptional leadership skills, and a deeply felt love of country.”
“I’m proud to support Rick Kozell,” Diaz-Balart said. “Rick understands the vital importance of strong American leadership and responsibility that we have as the freest nation on earth to speak up for the oppressed. We will be well served by having Rick’s voice in Congress.”
“I have been blessed in my life to have the chance to live the American Dream,” Kozell said. “And I am equally blessed in this campaign to have the support of such tremendous leaders in our community. Washington is broken. We need a fresh, conservative perspective in Congress and I am humbled by the outpouring of support from Republicans. As a former small business owner, I understand the struggles businesses face with burdensome regulations handed down from Washington. And as a husband and father to a beautiful baby, I am committed to restoring the American Dream for all those willing to work for it. The days of bloated bureaucracy and big government are coming to an end. It’s time we fix the mess in Washington and restore American exceptionalism. I am proud to have these supporters by my side as the campaign continues building momentum.”
