Lenny Curry: Trey Radel Needs to Resign

More bad news for Trey Radel: Republican Party of Florida Chairman Lenny Curry has joined others in urging the Fort Myers congressman to resign.

Last week, word broke out that Radel had been arrested for possession of cocaine at the end of October in Washington, D.C. Radel, who was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012, pleaded guilty to the charge last Wednesday and was sentenced to a year of probation.

Shortly after he pled guilty, Radel announced he'd be taking a leave of action from Congress. Radel entered rehab, but that hasn't stopped the calls for his resignation.

"The people of Floridas 19th Congressional District need a congressman who is 100 percent focused on the needs of Southwest Florida," Curry said in a statement. "Therefore, Congressman Radel should step down and focus his attention on rehabilitation and his family.
