Lenny Curry Credits Rick Scott for Changing Tax Policy in Massachusetts
Republicans across the nation have made it a habit to rip into Massachusetts over the years. The liberal leaning Bay State is an easy target for conservatives as it went for George McGovern in 1972 and produced the likes of Ted Kennedy, Elizabeth Warren, Barney Frank, John Kerry and Mike Dukakis (somehow Republicans ignore that it also led to the rise of GOP politicians like the Lodge dynasty, conservative icon Calvin Coolidge, Scott Brown and Mitt Romney).
Lenny Curry, the chairman of the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF), was the latest conservative to rip into Massachusetts on Friday when he noted legislative leaders in the Bay State planned to repeal an unpopular technology tax. Curry credited Gov. Rick Scott for shifting the policies up in Boston after he targeted businesses there, asking them to consider relocating to Florida. Curry also used the opportunity to bash Florida Democrats, including former Senate Democratic Leader Nan Rich, the only major candidate who is officially running for governor in 2014.
Taxachusetts Democrats decided to give up on their plans to raise harmful taxes after Rick Scott encouraged their job creators to book a one-way ticket to Florida, said Curry on Friday. This is proof that our governor's laser focus, strategy and tactics on jobs and Florida's economy are working. Sunshine State Democrats, like Florida's leading liberal Nan Rich, now find themselves further to the left of their Bay State counterparts by opposing Rick Scott's $500 million tax and fee cut proposal that will help the middle class."
