League of Cities Attorney Scores Municipal Association's Top Yearly Honor

Chip Morrison, general counsel for the Florida League of Cities, was named the municipal attorney of the year by Florida Municipal Attorneys Association.

Chip has given tirelessly and unselfishly to Floridas municipal community, Don Smallwood, city attorney of Kissimmee and president of the FMAA, stated in a release. He has practiced municipal law with an integrity and humbleness that brings respect and admiration to the profession.

Morrison received the Paul S. Buchman Award which honors significant contributions to the practice of municipal law.

Words cant express how proud I am to have my name associated with that of Mr. Buchman and how grateful I am to have received the Buchman Award, Morrison stated in the release.

Im still not sure I really deserved it. Im just good at surrounding myself with good people. And everyone knows good things happen when you work around good people. But, Ill do my best to carry the award with the dignity and respect it deserves.

Buchman served Plant City as its city attorney for 42 years, until his death in 1991, and was the first chairman of the City, County, and Local Government Law Section of the Florida Bar.
