Leading the Charge Against Obama ... George LeMieux?
In an interesting blog post on Tuesday, Dr. Brighten Godfrey notes that political divisiveness has reached new heights in Congress -- with Democrats backing President Barack Obama and Republicans voting against him.
While Republicans cheerfully refer to themselves as the party of no when it comes to blocking Obama, there was one surprise in the leading GOP senators standing in the way of the presidents agenda -- Floridas own U.S. Sen. George LeMieux. Of all the members of the Senate, only fellow Republicans Jim DeMint of South Carolina and Tom Colburn from Oklahoma vote against the Obama administration more than LeMieux does.
Rumors continue to circulate that LeMieux likes being in the Senate and, while he steps down this year, buzz continues to build that he will take on U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012 -- and his opposition to Obama can only help him with Republican primary voters.
