Lake Ray: Legislature Will Focus on Economy and Tackle Ports in 2012

Sunshine State News caught up with Florida state Rep. Lake Ray, R-Jacksonville, one of the leaders in the Legislature on ports issues, on Friday at the Republican Party of Floridas (RPOF) Presidency 5 event in Orlando.

Ray said that the chief issue facing the Legislature during the 2012 session would be economic recovery as Florida continues to lag behind the nation with high unemployment.

Its still about stabilizing the economy, Ray told Sunshine State News. He said the Republican-controlled Legislature would continue to fight against burdensome regulations and for lower taxes.

Ray said that he was continuing to fight for a statewide strategic plan on preparing Florida for the expansion of the Panama Canal. He added that he was working with staffers for Gov. Rick Scott on the issue.
