Koch Brothers, Liberals' Favorite Bogeymen, Target of Obama Plea
There's crassness.
There's hypocrisy.
This is crass hypocrisy.
A fundraising email to Obama supporters Friday pegs its appeal to a speech Mitt Romney is giving in Troy, Mich., sponsored by Americans for Prosperity, the conservative group largely funded by David and Charles Koch, the Houston billionaires liberals probably scare their children with.
Here's how the fundraiser describes two men who built a relatively small oil company into a multinational conglomeration that makes products I can almost guarantee you have or have had in your kitchen, garage or gas tank.
"Those are the same Koch brothers whose business model is to make millions by jacking up prices at the pump, and who have bankrolled Tea Party extremism and committed $200 million to try to destroy President Obama before Election Day."
Classic liberal pap: The profit motive is "jacking up prices at the pump." Participation in democracy becomes bankrolling "extremism." And honest political and philosophical disagreement is trying to "destroy" your opponent.
Oh yeah, in the spirit of opposing these money men, they want three bucks to boot.
For that, liberals can buy themselves about 83 percent of a gallon of Obama-era gas.
