Kendrick Meek Jabs Charlie Crist in Debate
Score one for U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, the Democratic nominee in the U.S. Senate race. In a debate Sunday morning with Republican Marco Rubio and Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running with no party affiliation, Meek scored the best line of the first half of the event.
Crist said that he was running as an independent due to the partisan bickering between Meek and Rubio on tax cuts and the economy.
We all know why the governor is running as an independent, said Meek. He couldnt beat Marco Rubio as a Republican.
Ignoring Meek, Crist then pounded Rubio on social issues, trying to argue that the Republican was extreme for wanting to overturn Roe vs. Wade.
Meek is having a solid debate -- and front-runner Rubio ignored Crist the first half of the debate while mixing it up with Meek who is trailing Crist in the polls. A stronger Meek clearly hurts Crist, and Rubio seems willing to help build Meek in the debates.
