Kendrick Meek Backs Obama's Decision to Remove McChrystal

President Barack Obamas decision to remove Gen. Stanley McChrystal from command for intemperate comments is getting praise from U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek who is running for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.

"President Obama made a strong and decisive move in exercising his duty as commander in chief to relieve General McChrystal as our top commander in Afghanistan, said Meek. Now, more than ever, it is critical that we stay focused on the mission at hand in Afghanistan and not allow diversions and defiance of our commander in chief to detract from the war effort.

Meek also had kind words for McChrystals replacement -- Gen. David Petraeus.

"I am confident that General Petraeus will serve as a capable successor and ensure our military remains on a path to success, said Meek. Today, the president is backing up his words with actions in guaranteeing that we provide our men and women in uniform with the best leadership possible."
