Karen Harrington Lashes Out at Wasserman-Schultz on Economic Issues
Noting that unemployment has risen dramatically since the Democrats took control of Congress after the 2006 elections, Karen Harrington, one of the Republicans in the primary to take on U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, came out swinging at the incumbent on Thursday.
"Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's desperate strategy to remain in power is simple: She will continue to blame the prior administration for our current economic downturn, and she will refuse to accept any responsibility for what has occurred on her watch, said Harrington. This is not only predictable, it is hypocritical and it completely ignores her own voting record.
"She has aggressively supported every misguided economic policy or bailout during the past two years, added Harrington. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and her party used the spending mistakes of the prior administration as a carte blanche to pile up exponentially more debt -- an unsustainable path that has created our terrible economic climate today. To underscore their fiscal recklessness, Democrats have announced they will not put forward a budget for the coming fiscal year. This takes 'passing the buck' to new levels of irresponsibility."
"Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has a radically different notion of what the federal government's proper role should be with regards to our economy, concluded Harrington. She believes that economic growth and job creation come from her good graces and from the government, not from a free people working and cooperating together in a system based on low taxes, liberty, and the rule of law - a system that ultimately rewards hard work and entrepreneurship. I very much look forward to drawing a clear contrast between the two of us for the voters this coming November."
