Karen Harrington Bashes Obama and Wasserman Schultz on Immigration

Karen Harrington, the Republican who ran against Democratic U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz in 2010 and wants a rematch in 2012, took aim Monday at the congresswoman and President Barack Obama over immigration.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz and congressional Democrats failed to pass the Dream Act legislation through Congress in 2010 when they were in the majority, said Harrington. Now, the Obama administration has decided to usurp congressional authority and implement a backdoor amnesty program for millions of illegal immigrants. This decision provides amnesty for illegal immigrants who have already been arrested, and in spite of assurances from congressional Democrats and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, this mass release of thousands of individuals does in fact jeopardize the security of American citizens. And because of the fact that these same illegal immigrants have also been granted work authorization, this amnestied group will now be competing with American citizens for the very limited number of available jobs that exist in this very poor economy. No matter how they spin this decision, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and President Obama are clearly putting their political gain ahead of the safety and the legitimate interests of the American people.
