Judge Vinson Has Company in Questioning Obamacare

Now U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson is asking tough questions about the federal health-care law.

Presiding over a hearing in Richmond, Va., Hudson sounded like U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson as he sparred Monday with government attorneys on the constitutionality of Obamacare.

Questioning Washington's legal right to require citizens to purchase insurance, Hudson said the law's "individual mandate" could open the door for the federal government to require residents to buy a car, join a gym and "eat asparagus." "It's boundless," he said.

The Virginia challenge, filed by that state's attorney general, is further along than the case brought by Florida and 19 other states.

Judge Hudson said he would rule by year's end on whether the health-care law is constitutional.
