John Thrasher Backs Paul Renner After Jay Fant Enters House Race
A day after businessman Jay Fant announced he was running in the Republican primary for the Florida House seat held by retiring Rep. Daniel Davis, R-Jacksonville, one of the leading conservatives on the First Coast endorsed primary rival Paul Renner, an attorney and Navy veteran.
Sen. John Thrasher, R-St. Augustine, offered Renner warm words of praise on Friday as he backed his candidacy.
I am proud to offer my endorsement to Paul Renner today in his campaign for the Florida House, Thrasher said. I admire his service to our country and our community, and I am confident he will make an exemplary member of the Florida Legislature.
Pauls conservative values coupled with his background in law will make him a talented, thoughtful leader that will serve the residents of Jacksonville well, Thrasher added.
I am humbled by the support of Senator Thrasher and hope to have the opportunity to follow his great example of leadership and public service to help our community, said Renner. I will stand up for the same common-sense, conservative policies that he has made a cornerstone of his service.
