John Stemberger Calls for Conservatives to Continue to be Active

While conservatives may have won big on Election Day, John Stemberger of the Florida Family Policy Council (FFPC) insists that they must remain active.

When one or two good things happen, a large portion of the pro-family movement here in Florida and America goes home content with the progress, wrote Stemberger in an e-mail to supporters on Tuesday. And when one or two bad things happen, many in the pro-family movement become frustrated and go home convinced they cant make a difference. I want it to be different this time.

While Stemberger insisted that he was happy with the election results, he said there was still a great deal of work to do.

For FFPC, success is achieving enduring cultural transformation, continued Stemberger. That kind of success doesnt come from any single moment like an historic election, legislative victory, or grass-roots rally. Achieving cultural transformation requires a lasting movement that sustains through good times and bad. A movement that unites people of faith across Florida to stand strong for the timeless values you and I share. A movement that equips leaders to effectively fight the battles that define our culture. A movement that engages the Christian community to advocate for laws that promote good conduct and punish wrong conduct in the eyes of God. A movement thats ready and able to hold elected officials accountable for their actions. That kind of movement will not happen if Floridas pro-family community goes home after this years election.

Stemberger added that he was drawing up a plan, which he named Ignite, for where conservatives go from here.

I want FFPC to fan the embers left behind from the 2010 election into a flame that transforms our state into one that cherishes life, protects marriage, and strengthens families, noted Stemberger. I want FFPC to ignite the Body of Christ into a lasting movement that achieves true cultural transformation.

Stemberger pledged to unveil his plan soon.
