John Mica's Chief of Staff Steps Down
On Tuesday, Florida Republican U.S. Rep. John Mica announced that Russell Roberts, who served as the congressmans chief of staff for years, was stepping down.
Rusty has provided outstanding public service to the citizens of Floridas 7th Congressional District for more than 18 years, said Mica. He has worked at the federal level for 27 years and four years as an aide in the Florida Legislature. His commitment to good government spans more than three decades and I gratefully respect his decision to retire from the public arena at this time. Mr. Roberts had asked to depart at the end of last year but agreed to stay on until mid-March to assist in the transition as I assumed the chairmanship of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Everyone extends their best wishes to Rusty as he departs federal service.
Wiley Deck, who has worked for Mica for 16 years, will be replacing Roberts as chief of staff.
