John Kasich Brings in John McCain Gurus as He Nears 2016 Bid

Gov. John Kasich, R-Ohio, is drawing increasingly closer to a second bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Kasich ran for the GOP nomination briefly in 1999 when he was the U.S. House budget chairman but he quickly threw his support behind then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush.

On Tuesday night, the Washington Post reported that Kasich was bringing in Republican strategist John Weaver and Fred Davis, a communications and media expert, to help his 2016 efforts. Weaver and Davis helped guide U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., to the Republican nomination in 2008 but they have also had some misfires, including former Gov. Jon Huntsman’s, R-Utah, bid in 2012.
