John Boehner Names Mario Diaz-Balart to Budget Conference
Budget conferencing has begun on Capitol Hill and U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, tapped U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla,., the chairman of the U.S. House Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee, as part of the Houses negotiating team.
I am honored to have been chosen as a conferee, and I am grateful to Speaker Boehner and Chairman Price for this opportunity," Diaz-Balart said on Tuesday. With the national debt at $18 trillion and growing, it is imperative that we cut waste, while also prioritizing funds to necessary programs. It has been over a decade since our country has had a balanced budget, and it is time to change that. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the budget conference as we begin to get Americas fiscal matters back in order.
