Jeff Miller: Parkinson's Won't Impact Johnny Isakson's Effort to Reform VA

This week, news broke that U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., the chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Isakson is planning to run again in 2016 which is welcome news to U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., the chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee.

“Johnny Isakson is a good friend and a valuable partner in our effort to fix the Department of Veterans Affairs,” Miller said on Thursday.  “He continues to be a leader in bringing accountability to VA by not only helping to create the Choice Program, but ensuring it is implemented effectively. From the minute he became chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, we have worked together seamlessly to enact important legislation like the Clay Hunt SAV Act and provide critical oversight of the department. Sen. Isakson has not allowed this diagnosis to slow him down one bit, and I look forward to continuing to work with him. The citizens of Georgia and the veterans of America could not ask for a better advocate.”
