Jeff Miller and Steve Southerland Introduce RESTORE Act

Two Florida Republicans who represent districts on the Gulf -- U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller and U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland -- joined congressmen from both parties from the region on Wednesday in introducing the RESTORE Act. The bill would require that oil spill funds from the Clean Water Act go to Gulf communities hurt by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

I am proud to join my fellow Gulf Coast colleagues as an original co-sponsor of the RESTORE Act, said Southerland in a statement released on Wednesday.North and Northwest Florida and the rest of the Gulf region suffered historic environmental and economic damage from the Deepwater Horizon tragedy, and it is my hope that we can help accelerate the recovery of our coastal communities by directing Clean Water Act funds directly to the areas most critically impacted by the accident.
