Jeff Greene's Rapid Response One Reason He Has Caught Kendrick Meek in the Polls
As anyone who ever studied the Clinton/Gore operation in 1992 can tell you, a campaign needs to put together a rapid response team. Its even more important in 2010 with the continued expansion of cable television and internet based news organizations.
Jeff Greenes team gets this. They sent out a media release earlier this morning with their candidates response to President Obamas call for BP to set up an escrow account for problems resulting from the oil spill in the Gulf.
"This is the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history and could quickly become one of the worst economic crises Florida will face, if we don't prepare for it now and hold BP accountable today for future problems, said Greene. That's why last week I called on BP to open a$1 billion escrow account for Florida."
"I'm glad President Obama is joining my call for a similar escrow account that will help residents get through this catastrophe, added Greene. It is important that we consider and are prepared for the possible long-term consequences this spill will have on residents, our environment and our economy.
And whats U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, Greenes chief rival for the Democratic nod for the U.S. Senate, saying? His website at 1:30 pm on Tuesday was urging visitors to sign a petition for Gov. Charlie Crist to veto HB 1143 -- which Crist did on Friday afternoon.
With polls showing the battle between Meek and Greene tightening, pundits said that Greenes ad campaign was the chief reason it was now a close race. They have a point. But Greenes team has done an excellent job of responding to the news and events of the day, while the Meek campaign seems a step -- or in the case of HB 1143, 72 hours --behind.
