Jeff Atwater Launches Website Directed at Senior Consumers

The office of Floridas Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater on Monday launched a new website intended to educate senior consumers about financial and insurance issues impacting the states fastest-growing population.

The site called On Guard for Seniors -- www.MyFloridaCFO.com/OnGuard -- has information about annuities, reverse mortgages, long-term care insurance and identity theft, as well as stories about seniors the Department of Financial Services has helped.

Through my years in the financial community and as an elected representative, Ive learned that more often than not it is our seniors who are most vulnerable to financial fraud, Atwater stated in a release. Seniors are inundated with offers of financial stability while being exposed to fraud artists targeting their life savings. The result -- financial decisions become overwhelming.
