Jeff Atwater, George LeMieux Make the Cut for FAU President Candidacy

Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater is one step closer to becoming president of Florida Atlantic University. On Monday, Atwater was one of 10 chosen to be interviewed for the position at the Boca Raton-based university.

George LeMieux, former state senator and chief of staff under Charlie Crist, also made the list of final candidates for the position.

Other nominees chosen by the presidential selection committee for presidential interviews were:

Dr. Larry Lemanski, a research professor at Texas A&M Commerce.
Ronald Vogel, the associate vice chancellor of the California State University System.
Dr. Christopher Earley, dean of Purdue University.
Donald Siegal, dean of the School of Business and professor of management at the University at Albany, SUNY.
John W. Kelly,Clemson vice president of economic development.
Robert Wilhelm, vice chancellor for research and economic development at UNC-Charlotte.
Mary Holz-Clause, vice president of economic development at the University of Connecticut.
David Brennen, dean of the University of Kentucky College of Law.

FAUs 15-member search committee is expected to make its final decision by Jan. 17.
