Jeb Bush in the Hunt in Iowa, Hillary Clinton Out Front with Democrats

A poll from Suffolk University released on Wednesday shows the pack of possible Republican presidential candidates, including those with ties to the Sunshine State, knotted together in Iowa, home of the first presidential caucus.

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., who moved to Florida after his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, led the Republican field with 11 percent. Former Gov. Jeb Bush, R-Fla., tied for second with U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., with 10 percent while U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Dr. Ben Carson took 9 percent each. Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey garners 7 percent. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., takes 6 percent which ties him with five other candidates: former Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., and Gov. Scott Walker, R-Wis.

While Republicans are divided in Iowa, Democrats have a clear front-runner in former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with 63 percent, followed by U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., in second with 12 percent and Vice President Joe Biden in third with 10 percent.

Per Suffolk University:

The field of 800 likely voters was conducted Thursday, April 3, through Tuesday, April 8. The margin of error is +/- 3.5 percent at a 95 percent level of confidence. The subset of 224 likely Republican primary voters carries an error rate of +/- 6.55 percent. The margin of error is +/- 8.7 percent for the 127 GOP caucus-goers and +/- 8.4 percent for the 135 Democratic caucus-goers surveyed.
