Jean Jordan Remains Critical of Crist for No '08 Straw Poll

Carole Jean Jordan, the former Republican Party of Florida chair under former Gov. Jeb Bush, was blunt against former Gov. Charlie Crist and another former RPOF chairman, Jim Greer, in her support for todays P5 straw vote.

For the party, I think its a tremendous success, said Jean Jordan, now the tax collector for Indian River County.

The straw poll was canceled by Mr. Greer a few years ago. That was a big mistake, Jordan said. This has allowed the grass roots, the individual people to come here and make their personal choices.I think that is a huge difference, rather than Charlie Crist trying to anoint someone as he did with John McCain.

In 2008, the RPOFs Presidency 4 conference include a presidential candidate debate which some attendees said was won by Rudy Giuliani -- but no straw poll. At the time, many within the party complained that Greer and Crist had manipulated the event for personal interests.

As for this weeks contest, Jordan said that after three days at the conference her impression is that delegates remained undecided heading into the straw poll.
