JaxBiz Backs John Thrasher

Sen. John Thrasher of Jacksonville, the chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, won the endorsement of JaxBiz, a political organization backed by the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Leaders like John Thrasher are what make Northeast Florida a great place to live, work and play, and we look forward to continuing to work with Senator Thrasher in the Senate, said JaxBiz Chairman Michael Hightower.

If re-elected to the Florida Legislature, it is my goal to drive quality economic growth in Northeast Florida and promote legislation that cuts regulation and grows our areas small businesses, said Thrasher.

Thrasher takes on dermatologist Charles Pernciaro in the Republican primary in August. The winner takes on Democrat Deborah Gianoulis who spent decades as a news anchor in Jacksonville, in the general election. Both Gianoulis and Pernciaro have been critical of Thrashers backing of Senate Bill 6, a measure to reform teacher performance pay that was vetoed by Gov. Charlie Crist.
