Janet Cruz: Arizona Tragedy Shows America Needs to Follow MLK's Ideals

Rep. Janet Cruz of Tampa is a rising star in the Florida Democratic Party. While she was elected to the House in early 2010, Cruz has already moved up to being one of the deputy minority whips.

Cruz will be on center stage in Tampa on Monday during the MLK Day parade.

I am proud of Tampas unique diversity and its ability to respect and enjoy the cultures of so many, said Cruz, who added that America could heed Kings lessons today.

Although Congresswoman Giffords is 2,000 miles away, we feel the pain and sorrow right here in Tampa. Just like Martin Luther King Jr. said, Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere and I hope that we can spark change in our nations political rhetoric, said Cruz. People all over the country are wishing U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords a speedy recovery, and I know that those here in West Tampa, Seminole Heights, and Town n Country are no different.
