Jake Rush and His Vampire Role-Playing Appear on 'Colbert Report'

Congressional candidate and avid role-player Jake Rush made an appearance on the "Colbert Report" Thursday evening, speaking to the comedian about Florida's 3rd Congressional District, his political aspirations, and his role-playing habit.

Rush gained notoriety across the state and nationwide when reports surfaced that he was an avid, live-action role-player. Rush, however, doesn't seem to think it's too big of a deal.

I took a big risk exposing myself to satire on this national stage, but I want to stick up for nerds everywhere by demonstrating that I was not going to be bullied by my political opponents, said Rush.I have never hid my gaming past through job interviews and background checks, and I have never been ashamed of who I am. I am ashamed at how my political opponents have misrepresented the hobby and attacked millions of gamers across the nation.

I hope my opponent will return to the issues, but unfortunately I am certain that Ted Yoho wants to talk about anything other than his Washington record and we may see this issue again in their campaign ads, he continued. "By appearing in the lions den, the voters of North Central Florida now know that I am going to stand tall and not be intimidated by anyone."
