Indian River State College Wins Grant to Build Nuclear Training Center

Indian River State College (IRSC) beat out other institutions to win a $3.1 million National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education grant to establish a Regional Center for Nuclear Education and Training.

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney cheered the news on Thursday.

IRSC is continuing to lead the country and the world in preparing students for high-skilled, high-paying jobs in the nuclear field, Rooney said.This new training center will serve as a model for programs across the country, helping meet the national need for thousands of skilled nuclear employees. Expanding the number of trained nuclear technicians is critical to ensuring we have a safe, reliable and affordable energy supply.
