Immigration Reform Widely Supported by Florida Voters
According to a new state poll released Thursday by Public Policy Polling, the majority of Floridians overwhelmingly support a bipartisan immigration bill. The poll showed a great deal of support for the Gang of Eight as well.
Seventy-two percent of voters said they strongly or somewhat strongly support bipartisan immigration reform legislation. There's also strong support for a tough but fair path to citizenship; 71 percent of voters said they'd support such a bill. Immigration reform is also important to voters -- 86 percent said it was very or somewhat important that the U.S. fix its immigration system this year.
The poll also found it imperative that Sen. Marco Rubio support the bill. Seventy-four percent of voters said they'd be more likely to vote for an elected official who supports comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship.
The Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone surveys of likely voters were conducted between June 2-10. The poll has a minimum sample size of 500 respondents and a margin of error of less than 5 percent.
