Ileana Ros-Lehtinen Backs Steve Scalise for Majority Leader
In the aftermath of the congressional leadership reshuffling after U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, announced he was stepping down, U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., the chairwoman of the U.S. House Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, said she was backing U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., for House majority leader.
“Steve is a trusted friend who knows how to deliver results and is always available and responsive to all Republican members,” Ros-Lehtinen said on Wednesday. “In my many conversations with him, I know that he is committed to ensuring that we regain America’s lost credibility on the international stage and reverse the nonsensical Obama foreign policy. As part of our current leadership team, he has been deeply involved in working to promote the opportunity economy so that all can achieve the American dream. Steve knows our Republican Conference well and will be a key player in ensuring we help lower taxes, create jobs, and improve our nation’s long-term growth.”
