Hungry for Oil Spill Info? State has Multicolored Marvel for You
This is pretty cool.
The State Emergency Response Team has created an interactive map that plots out the oil's impact on the state, color codes it to show severity, and points out the location of oil skimmers. It also updates regularly with on-the-ground reports from response teams and links to pictures of the tar balls, patties and sheen threatening Northwest Florida shores.
Also, an unrelated Web site allows users to discover how much land the oil spill would engulf if it had started in their hometowns. If it had started in Miami, it would have extended south past Big Pine Key, west past Naples, north to the waters off Port St. Lucie and east to Cooperstown, in Abaco, the Bahamas. Spend a couple of minutes at www.ifitwasmyhome.com and be horrified.
