How Did I Do? Let Me Ask Me

After the "Fox News Sunday" debate -- within 20 minutes of each other -- both GOP senatorial candidates Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio released press statements declaring victory.

Rubio's: Under the headline Verdict is in! ... Marco Wins -- Charlie avoided debating Marco for almost a year and now we know why! because Charlie Crist had no vision, record or conservative principles to promote, he did what politicians do distort and attack.

Crist's: Under the headline, Governor Crist Wins First Florida Senate Debate! -- There were a few good takeaways from the debate that you should be aware of. Most importantly, Speaker Rubio admitted that he supported the largest tax increase in Florida history. He also admitted he supports raising the age requirement for social security benefits.

Does this excessive celebration really work, campaign staff? Gov. Charlie's grinning from ear to ear because he dodged a bullet -- didn't have to talk about the Everglades deal -- whew! And Marco's smile is just as wide because Charlie went waaay over the top, labeling the former House speaker a sleeze. All it won was sympathy for Rubio.

Next time, campaign managers, if honesty is out of the question, at least tone it down a notch.
