House Posts University Presidents' Education Committee Appearances
The House Office of Public Information has posted the appearances of all 11 state university presidents before the House Education Committee this month:
Florida State University (FSU) President Eric J. Barron.
University of Florida (UF) President J. Bernard Machen.
Florida Atlantic University (FAU) President Dr. Mary Jane Saunders.
Florida International University (FIU) President Dr. Mark B. Rosenberg.
Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) President Dr. James Ammons.
New College of Florida President Dr. Gordon Michalson.
University of West Florida (UWF) President Dr. Judith A. Bense.
Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) President Dr. Wilson G. Bradshaw.
University of North Florida (UNF) President John Delaney.
University of South Florida (USF) President Dr. Judy L. Genshaft.
University of Central Florida (UCF) President Dr. John C. Hitt.
Gov. Rick Scott and House Speaker Dean Cannon have targeted higher education reform for the 2012 session, including making changes to professor tenure and focusing on courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics -- the STEM core desired for a high-tech future.
Scott, drawing on data from the Agency for Workforce Innovation, has estimated that Florida will need at least 120,000 workers in the science and math fields through 2018.
