House Freshman Bill Hager Makes Waves Standing Against Obamacare

Freshman Rep. Bill Hager, R-Boca Raton, does not believe that new members of the House need to keep their mouth shut -- but then he is not exactly lacking in experience. Hager, who represents parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties, has an impressive background, serving as an aide in Congress, and a member of the Boca Raton City Council who even served a stint as vice mayor and as an assistant attorney general in Iowa.

Hager announced late on Tuesday that he was co-sponsoring the Florida Health Care Freedom Act which was introduced by Rep. Scott Plakon, R-Longwood. This is the House version of the bill pushed by Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, to let Florida voters back a constitutional amendment that would exempt state residents from paying fines if they choose to opt out of new federal health-care laws backed by President Barack Obama.

We must work to provide greater access to affordable health care for all Floridians, said Hager. The answer, however, will not be found by rescinding our personal freedoms and forcing all Floridians into a one-size-fits-all plan chosen by the federal government.
