House Floor Session Delayed, Awaiting Senate Action
Waiting for the Senate to advance a number of bills, the House has delayed the start of its floor session until 4 p.m.
"Because we have so few returning messages to take up, and in the hopes that we will receive additional returning messages from the Senate this afternoon, House session will begin today at 4 p.m.," wrote House Rules and Calendar Committee Chairman Rep. Gary Aubuchon, R-Cape Coral.
"We will work straight through our remaining business. I also anticipate that we will begin the process of explanations, questions, and debate of the conference report on the GAA and the Implementing Bill this evening."
The House session, which is to include the second of three required hearings on the proposed $70 billion budget, along with time for departing words from House Speaker Dean Cannon, was initially scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
The Senate, after a nearly two-hour morning send-off for outgoing President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, has taken a lunch break until 2 p.m.
